Welcome to the website on Lifelong Learning at Work and at Home. We are a group of researchers interested in the understanding and enhancing the learning that adults do in their everyday real lives. Here are some examples of questions that we are answering:
  • How do learners know when they need to learn something?
  • Do employees’ beliefs about what they need to know match their employers’ beliefs about what they need to know?
  • Where does learning happen?
  • Where can learners get the best or most recent knowledge (on any topic)?
  • How do learners decide about the utility of their own learning?
  • How do learners determine if they know something “well enough?”
  • When is feedback useful?
  • How can we get everyone to focus more on transfer of learning and long-term retention?
  • How does learning and performing in a group differ from learning and performing alone?
  • Do we need to alter our general principles of thinking and learning to account for age-related changes in cognition?
