Prior to receiving her undergraduate degree, Ms. McCausland had worked in various administrative settings, to include the Department of Defense, U.S. Army in Europe. Currently, Ms. McCausland is pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology. Her research interests include addictions, social support and posttraumatic stress. She has received training in motivational interviewing for the treatment of problem and pathological gamblers and has served as a student therapist in the Gambling Clinic at the University of Memphis for 3 years. Ms. McCausland has been a student therapist in the Psychological Services Center at the University since 2006. In addition, Ms. McCausland is currently on placement at Memphis Job Corps Center where she provides psychological services to student employees and facilitates group work in substance abuse intervention and anger management. Ms. McCausland's thesis research examines the role of marital distress and responsibility attributions in spousal support for a gambler in recovery. She joined the Health Behavior Research Lab as a third-year clinical student to pursue her research interest in substance abuse. She is particularly interested in exploring the co-morbidity between alcohol use and posttraumatic stress disorder. |
